Arches National Park, located in southeastern Utah, is an iconic destination for nature enthusiasts and families alike.
With over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, unique rock formations, and scenic hiking trails, this park is a must-visit for those seeking outdoor adventure and breathtaking views.
But with so much to explore in the park, where should you stay for a comfortable and convenient vacation?
Campgrounds
If you’re looking for a camping experience, there are several family-friendly campgrounds located just outside of the park. Some of the best options include Sun Outdoors Arches Gateway which offers a pool, RV hook-ups, cabins, and fun onsite activities.
If you’re looking for a tent-only campground, check out Up The Creek Campground in Moab.
Moab KOA is another great family option with a pool, hot tub, and tons of games and family fun. We have stayed at this location frequently.
The RV sites have nice views towards the mountains. The cabins are at the back of the resort and closest to the highway noise. However, they are a great value at under $200 per night, and they are child and pet-friendly.
Another unique glamping experience can be found at the Moab Under Canvas, which offers luxurious camping experiences, complete with comfortable tents and all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay.
Full Service Accommodations
For families who prefer a more traditional hotel stay, there are several inns and hotels located just outside of Arches National Park.
There are many new hotels in Moab, but be careful because seasonal rates climb high in this desert town!
Our top picks include…
- Hoodoo Moab: This Hilton Curio Collection hotel is the most luxurious facility we have seen in Moab. It lies only around five minutes from the main entrance to Arches National Park. It boasts beautiful, modern rooms, a resort-style pool, and spa services. The hotel also includes an on-site restaurant and a fitness center. If you have “champagne taste” and need concierge-style service, this is the Moab hotel for you!
- Springhill Suites Moab: This is our top pick for family fun and flexibility! This Marriott-branded hotel boasts large family suites that include kitchen facilities. The ability to prepare a meal or two or three from the comfort of your hotel room can be helpful to your budgets of time and money. But, to be honest, the thing I love most about this hotel is its Arches-themed, Disney-esque resort pool. It is really more of a pool-complex including pools, spas, splash zones, and waterfalls. It is the centerpiece of the hotel, and it draws many an envious eye from the adjacent highway’s passersby! This pool area is shared with the next-door Fairfield Inn, also a Marriott property.
- Sorrel River Ranch: If you are looking for diamond-level accommodations, services, and…ahem….price tags, this is a place for you. The ranch boasts a petting farm and a series of custom cabins to ensure its guests are comfortable. It is pet and child friendly with onsite activities and concierge-level services. The experience can also be upgraded to an all-inclusive vacation. Base prices for this experience seem to start at $952 per night on some November and December dates. During the rest of the year, prices hover between $1000 and $1300 per night.
Short-Term Rentals
If you’re looking for a unique and secluded getaway, there are also several cabins and cottages available for rent outside of Arches National Park. This is a category that we have not explored in Moab, but if you would like a larger space with cooking facilities, it may be your best option.
The bad news is that most rentals may be a little further from the national park entrance, but the good news is that Moab is still tiny compared to other gateway towns. “A little further” may only be five to twenty minutes!
No matter what type of accommodation you prefer, there are plenty of options for families looking for a comfortable and convenient stay near Arches National Park.
Whether you prefer camping, hotels, or cabins, there’s something for everyone in this area. So why not plan your next family vacation to Arches National Park today?
Go ahead, experience all the natural beauty and outdoor adventure this incredible park has to offer!
